Morocco 7: Travelling & Tops

Lots of river crossings, most very easy and warm, not like the ones in Iceland. Even better when they need sandals.

Our mules with the wonderful cook, Mohammed.

Variable standards of bridges, maybe paddling is the better option.

Near the top of Adrar n'Dern, "Windy Mountain", our first 4,000m top, a twelve hour day, challenging, starting in the dark up a stream bed. Most people hated it, but the views were spectacular.

The long dry scree slope down to camp in the Tinzart Valley, all knackered.

More typical scenery, little flowery treasures sheltering in crevices, heading to Amsouzat.

On top of Tizi Ounoums pass, looking down into the valley below Toubkal (off to the right) Ouanoukrim is on the left.

Top of Ouanoukrim, 2nd 4,000 m peak with Toubkal in the distance.

Scrambly detour to Ras from the top of Ouanakrim, by "Munro rules" it doesn't count as a separate one,  brilliant days walk, but no-one else seemed to know about it, almost empty.

Coming up to number 3, Toubkal. Not nearly as harsh as the glarey sun suggests, but it's the highest snd the one everyone knows it. We had to join the queue for the group photo.

The final challenge for the four of us not struck down by flu, knees and common-sense! It was high, steep, loose, scrambly but wonderful. Hosein looking back at the Tizi Tadat "Pass of the finger"

Looking back up to the top of Bouguinoussen past the finger

The final sad descent to Ait Souka and civilisation.
